Designed by Tour-Mate’s R&D team the SC550
represents Tour-Mate’s fifth generation system.
It incorporates hardware and software improvements garnered
from years of installation, service and usage data associated
with Tour-Mate’s earlier models. |
Our design philosophy focuses on: |
- ease of use
- reliability
- simplicity of service
- platform flexibility and longevity
|
The SC550 Listening Wand is designed to be easy
to use for all age groups. Made from rugged
ABS (automotive grade) plastic, the Wand can stand
up to the harsh treatment delivered by your most
rambunctious visitors. Careful consideration
was given to individuals with disabilities or whose
fine motor skills may be less than ideal.
The keypad is laid out telephone style. All
numbered buttons are large, well spaced and square
except for the number 5 which is round. This makes
it easy for the visually impaired to orient themselves
to the keypad. |
|
The Wand incorporates a language/tour selection button
providing an attraction with the ability to offer up
to 10 languages/tours on a single device. A
3-digit readout permits 999 possible messages per language/tour.
Each message is able to incorporate up to three additional
layers of information allowing visitors to customize
their own tours. |
The Listening Wand uses a top quality Mylar composite
speaker, compatible with most hearing aids. The Wand is
powered by a re-chargeable battery pack and will deliver
up to 15 hours of continuous play. When not in use the
Wand reverts to stand-by mode, allowing the battery to
last in excess of 3 days . |
For smaller institutions Tour-Mate has developed a
Mini-Programmer/Charger unit capable of charging and
programming up to 10 Listening Wands at one time. The
unit requires no installation and is small enough
to fit on a desk, and plug into a standard electrical
outlet. |
